Ark Research Project Newsletter - November 2001

INTRODUCTION

ARP Sets Focus: August 2002 Expedition. On July 30, 2001 the Turkish Embassy announced to Ark Research Project that their permits to explore Mount Ararat were denied due to terrorist activities in the region.  With this announcement, our team immediately began preparing for next year: August 2002.   ARP is planning more mountain training sessions and further discussions with Ataturk University in the near future.

Ground Penetrating Radar And Survey Techniques. Geophysical Survey Systems Incorporated conducted a ground penetrating radar class that Ark Research Project member, Matthew Kneisler, attended.  Ground penetrating radar (GPR) uses radio waves to detect buried objects in any non-metallic material. Initially used to detect structures in ice, GPR has evolved to include the penetration of soils, rocks and man-made structures. GPR is used to map the interior of any object penetrable by radio waves, just as X-rays image the internal structure of the body. GPR uses a sensitive detector to record weak radio waves reflected from objects embedded in the material under investigation.

GPR can provide our team with a look under ice or beneath rock without disturbing the terrain.  This method has been used to survey the eastern plateau, the saddle between the two peaks and the ice cap on the western plateau.  See the 1988 Willis expedition and the 1989 Aaron/Garbe/Corbin expedition for more details.  There are still several place on and around Mount Ararat that have not been scanned with GPR.   Scanning these remaining areas on Mount Ararat is but one of ARP's expedition objectives.

As indicated in previously, we will only produce a newsletter when news becomes available.  As you can see, the year 2001 has been eventful.  And we will keep you posted with any new developments.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Words of encouragement, shared interest and enthusiasm are great ways to share your thoughts with us.  However, due to the volume of email, it is nearly impossible to "personally" respond to all letters.  If you would like a response from your email, please let us know and we will try our best to do so accordingly.  Here are a few letters straight and mostly unedited from you:

->
Please send us some updated news on the project.  We had the pleasure of listening to Professor Hall last year at an AWANA confrence in Salem Va.   We would love to hear how the expedition is going.  Our thoughts and our PRAYERS are with the team. TS

->I am Roman Catholic who is very interested in the results of your planned expedition to find "Noahs Ark", I can not help you with a donation right now. But in the near future (1-2 months) I will be donating very generously to your cause which I believe in very strongly. BAM

->It was fun to be able to browse through your site and read about your thoughts on the Ark. I am interested in what is going on with this "anomoly" presently. most of the info I have found has been dated back to 1997 or 1998, although there was a "Peace climb" that just happened this year involving climbers from many different countries. They reached the summit, but were unable to climb to the area the ark is supposed to be at because of a glacier. From what I have read, I cannot understand who is doing what, or if anyone will ever be able to actually get to the ark (maybe God doesn't want us to). Thanks for your insight and time! GT

-> Hi my name is ashley,i am 14 years old and i live in the USA. i am very interested in learning about the dicovery of the arc. A

->Are you aware that the Bible doesn't actually say the ark landed on Mt. Ararat; it says it landed on the "mountains of Ararat?" Ararat was the ancient kingdom also known as Armenia, which includes modern Armenia and part of Turkey and the surrounding areas. Of course, Mt. Ararat is the dominant peak of the mountainous region, but not the only one. Even Mt. Ararat has two peaks. Just thought that might be of interest. JC

->Like many others, obviously, I have a passion for learning more (and looking for) the ark.  I really appreciate your website and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to be diligent and careful with your endeavor.  There are many people who have suffered serious attack and even death for what they have learned concerning what is probably the greatest threat to modern man's humanistic philosophy and lifestyle.  What a testament and witness the 'discovery' of the ark would be.  The theory of evolution would be devastated.    Uniformitarianism is based, obviously, on there never having been a world wide deluge. BB

-> It's been found fool WB (This email refers to Ron Wyatt's discovery.)

->Your site is excellent.  Keep up the good work.  May God bless your ministry

->I am currently writing a fiction book about Noah's Ark and have found your site to have the most amazing information anywhere on the internet. Thank you so much!

FROM THE DIRECTOR

The Ark Research Project (ARP) received a notice on July 30, 2001, from the Turkish Embassy, that our permits for an expedition to locate Noah's Ark were denied. It was a disappointment but at the same time, I realize that God has His time table.

Since that time, on September 11 we all witnessed the horrific disaster in New York City. We saw the images of the destruction that resulted in deaths of men, women, and children. The nation has come together in way I have not seen before. Flags are now being displayed rather than burned, we are seeing multitudes looking to God in a different way, and many are returning to their churches, synagogues, and mosques.

We spent a generation removing God from our society but in just one day we invited Him back into our society. Patriotic songs being sung again in public places and not afraid to mention the name of God publicly are all part of a positive change from such a negative event.

ARP is planning an expedition for August-September 2002. Even though ARP did not accomplish its mission this year, we were able to accomplish a number of important items essential for the success of a projected expedition.

1. We were able to host the President and Dean of Ataturk University who are our sponsors in Turkey.
2. I was able to Travel to Turkey in June to enlist 6 members of the Archaeology Department of Ataturk University. This was a major accomplishment for ARP.
3. Sent one of ARP's team to Remote Sensing training.
4. Added an experienced medical doctor to our team.

These were some of the more important benefits that ARP experienced this year. We are now focusing on preparations which are now actively in progress. We are now further ahead this time than last year for which we can Praise God.

The mood of the world is now focused more on God than in some time. This renewed spiritual climate that is now persisting will make the discovery of the Ark more receptive and believable. Remember, our only purpose for discovering the Ark is to show its discovery to the world and use the discovery as a witness for the soon return of the Lord as described in Matthew 24. The Lord said His return would parallel the events of Noah's Day and being repeated in this age.

If any of you would consider our goal a worthy one and would like to make a tax-deductible gift to the project, then make your check out to Ark Research Project and send to:

OTHER NEWS

Congratulations to our sister team, ArcImaging! They received word that their permits to explore the mountain were accepted.  Here is an excerpt from their website:

"The Turkish Embassy announced on October 10, 2001 that for the first time since about 1990 an international research group, ArcImaging, the Archaeological Imaging Research Consortium, has received federal permission from the Turkish Government and various Turkish Ministries including the Military and the Ministry of Culture to perform research on Mount Ararat."

And if you are interested in becoming one of our Prayer Partners, please email John McIntosh and express your interest in helping us through prayer.
